What sets our transformers apart?
High-energy efficient wound core transformers are made from amorphous metal along with electrolytic grade copper or with aluminum if requested by the customer.
Conventional stacked core Transformers are made from Prime grade CRGO steel with electrolytic grade copper or aluminum, depending on the customer requirement.
Circular cores are formed from prime grade Amorphous metal or CRGO steel to ensure a low loss. Annealing of the formed cores is done under inert atmosphere to ensure stress release from the cores, thereby retaining the original characteristic of electrical steel.
Accurately wound LV and HV windings ensure the short circuit withstand ability of the Transformer whilst proper drying along with right grade of insulation ensures the capacity to withstand the specified impulse level.
HV and LV coils are prepared in a near dust free environment and are subjected to regular process checks.
HV coils are designed in order to
Ensure effective uniform distribution of voltage to reduce impulse and transient forces
Compression of coils for proper geometrical shape is in order to minimize axial forces during short circuit condition.
The Core-Coil Assembly (also known as the active part) is processed under controlled conditions in an air-drying oven to ensure removal of moisture while preventing insulation damage on account of excessive heating, thus increasing the productive life of the transformers.

Benefits of Amorphous Core
In order to understand the advantage of an Amorphous Core, first we should understand the two types of Losses in a transformer:
Load Losses Or Coil Losses: the
loss is proportional to the square of load drawn.Benefits of Amorphous Metal Transformer
No load losses are 70% to 80%
lesser when compared to
conventional transformers.
A payback period of less than
3 years, after which the benefits
continue for the life of the
product.Copper Vs Aluminum
In electrical transformers wound with aluminum or copper coils have similar losses and performance. Losses in the transformer’s coil are a function of the current carrying capacity of the wire or strip used to wind them and the actual input of current.

Benefits of Amorphous Core
In order to understand the advantage of an Amorphous Core, first we should understand the two types of Losses in a transformer:
Load Losses Or Coil Losses: the loss is proportional to the square of load drawn.
No Load Losses Or Core Losses: the loss is continuous, independent of load.
Amorphous metal helps us minimize the No Load Losses that translates into High Saving Potential
The various no load losses:
Hysteresis Loss: The random molecular structure of amorphous metal ensures lesser friction than CRGO silicon steel, when a magnetic field is applied. This unique property of this metal ensures a faster magnetization & demagnetization, thus significantly lowering hysteresis losses in amorphous metals.
Eddy Current Loss: Amorphous metals have very thin laminations. Thin laminations result in lower eddy current losses when compared to CRGO silicon steel. -

Fast & easy repair due to modular construction
High reliability & Excellent Short Circuit Capability:
Robust single coil construction addresses axial component of short circuit forces.
Interlayer bonding using epoxy dotted paper addresses radial component of short circuit forces.
Better Overloading Capacity:
Lesser heat generation due to lower losses, thus lesser impact on aging of insulation.
Assured Product Quality: Use of single quality (grade) core material.
Last but not the least: a significant contribution to the green footprint by the reduction of the no-load losses.

Copper Vs Aluminum
Copper Vs Aluminum
In electrical transformers wound with aluminum or copper coils have similar losses and performance. Losses in the transformer’s coil are a function of the current carrying capacity of the wire or strip used to wind them and the actual input of current. Therefore, a Larger wire or strip is used when winding aluminum coils to make up for the lower current carrying capacity and efficiency of aluminum.
Aluminum wound coils are larger than an equivalent copper coil. In applications requiring very tight transformer dimensions, a copper coil transformer is suggestible. Aluminum wire requires approximately 1.6 times as much Cross section as copper to carry an equivalent amount of current.
Copper has a higher tensile strength than aluminum. Thin aluminum wire is brittle. Smaller transformers, generally 16 kVA and under are wound with copper to avoid snapping or damaging the wire during winding. Copper wire is more flexible and smaller than aluminum wire.
Certain high efficiency applications can also be more economically achieved using copper units, where larger wire sizes can cause more losses.
Aluminum transformers tend to be less costly than copper transformers. A kilo of aluminum has about twice the current carrying capacity of cropper but costs ½ to ¼ as much.
Since both aluminum and copper transformers use the same insulation systems andhave similar temperature rises, due to which they have similar lifetime ratings. -
